The best place to stop at Hammelburg and tell the story of Task Force Baum and the engagement with the German Tankdestroyers is near the Saale-Bridge. With the courtesy of the Town of Hammelurg, the parkplace there was blocked for us. Artur Hurrlein explained to an interested audiance, how he experienced the 27 March 1945, when we wachted the fighting with his brother from the garden.

Artur Hurrlein had brough some photos, to show, how this place looked in 1945. He also brought the welding equipment, which he later found in a abandoned Halfrack. Artur Hurrlein had also arranged, that the convoy could take the original route up to the former prison camp, which is today forbidden for vehicles.
