The Long March
This is the account of the march of 1.282 American officers and 109 enlisted Men POW's from OFLAG 64 in Schubin [Szubin] from 21 January 1945 and ending with liberation at STALAG VII-A in Moosburg 29 April 1945 from the diary of John P. Sandford written during this period.
The march was interrupted between 9 March 1945 and 28 March 1945, when the POW's were at OFLAG XIII-B in Hammelburg. After the failure of the Raid of Task Force Baum, the POW's had to continue their march towards Moosburg.
[Note: The march of the POW's of the OFLAG 64 gone through areas which fell to Poland after the end of the WWII. Places situated in Poland now are marked with blue color - all places in Germany are brown color.]
