Hammelburg Military Training Area

From Camp Hammelburg we followed the original route through the Military Training Area. On 27 March 1945, Task Force Baum needed the whole night to make it through. This time the roads were better until we arrived at the former village Hundsfeld, which consists nowadys of a handfull of houses for training purpose.

Martin Heinlein wanted the route through the training area so exactly as possible. He asked Heiko Haas to look for a way through the motar impact area. Heiko Haas checked this particular road before and maed sure we did not run over a unesploded mortar shell. The way through the imapct area lasted only 20 minutes instead of over 1 hour. Unfortunately we were now ahead of our shedule.
